The EC Markets STD Account offers leverage up to 1:1000. This means with a $100 margin, you could theoretically control a position worth $100,000. Leverage allows you to take larger positions with less capital, but it is critical to understand that leverage amplifies both gains and losses proportionally.
For example, on a 1:1000 leveraged position, a 0.1% price movement in your favor could double your margin. Conversely, a 0.1% movement against you could wipe out your entire margin for that position. EC Markets sets margin call at 50% and stop out at 30% to help manage risk, but these are protective measures, not guarantees against loss.
We strongly recommend using lower leverage ratios (such as 1:100 or 1:200) until you have sufficient experience and a proven risk management strategy. Never trade with money you cannot afford to lose.
